Background
What would happen if Peruvians dare to declare that we want to “be happier”?
Thinking big, this is our vision:
Sounds impossible, right? But, what if we build a project that starts with that vision?
According to the 2020 World Happiness Report, Peru is in position #63, in the region only surpassing, and not by much, Bolivia, Paraguay and Venezuela.
The Nordic countries, as expected, lead the measurements and this has been the case every year, particularly due to their high levels of social support, freedom to make decisions and low rates of corruption. One of the possible explanations for this “Nordic miracle” that this same report analyzes is the great investment that these countries made in the 19th century in education, particularly in relation to national identity and social cohesion.
In Peru, in contrast, and according to this analysis of the same report referred to, three main indicators to improve are identified:
- Economic situation, measured in GDP per capita.
- Level of social support, between communities and towards public institutions.
- Perception of non-corruption, where Peru ranks well below the average of the 10 “least happy” countries.
It is from this base that our project starts, and as a first step we propose a theoretical framework that tries to give foundation to our projects.
